Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Charitable Gift?
A gift that is motivated by charitable intent. A gift is defined as a voluntary transfer of assets from a person or an organization to the Foundation where no goods or services are expected, implied or forthcoming for the donor. Gifts usually are cash, checks, securities, real property, or personal property. The Foundation accepts gifts from individuals, corporations, associations, societies and private Foundations. A gift may be either unrestricted or restricted to a general area of use that contributes to the benefit of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health Care.

Will I receive a thank-you note for my gift?
Yes, the Foundation will acknowledge your gift with a letter that both expresses our deep appreciation for your support and provides you with a record of your charitable contribution.

Both Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital Foundation and Friends of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Foundation are 501(c)(3) organizations as determined by the IRS. Accordingly, donations made to CHRISTUS Santa Rosa are deductible on federal tax returns, subject to IRS limits. The Foundation office provides letters of receipt that will document your gift for tax purposes. What are CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Foundation’s donor protection policies?
In addition to the HIPAA Privacy Policy, the Foundation adheres to the principles found in the Donor Bill of Rights developed by the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy. We will not release names and addresses of our donors to any outside agency or individual for any reason. From time to time, certain prospective funders request a listing of our top donors in order to validate for themselves the worthiness of our request for support; this information we may supply at our discretion but will do so without revealing addresses or donated amounts. As a way of acknowledging our donors’ generosity, we may list our donors’ names on a honor roll of giving, either printed or electronic. Every donor has the right to request that their name be excluded from such listing.

Can I contribute a gift of my time and talents?
Volunteer Services can always use your help in areas ranging from delivering magazines to a patient's room to helping in the gift shop or even in a specific department. Please contact Volunteer Services at 210-704-2109 for more information.
